General Questions

Where is La Rinconada?
La Rinconada Ranch is located in the Province of Chubut, 18 kilometers south west of the town of Cholila (pop.2, 000). The property lies just outside the northern entrance of Los Alerces National Park. We are 88km south by car from the town of El Bolson (Rio Negro Province) and approximately 220 kilometers south by car from San Carlos de Bariloche (Rio Negro Province). For more information, check the maps.

How do I get to La Rinconada?
United and American Airlines fly to Buenos Aires from many United States cities. They have connecting services to San Carlos de Bariloche and Esquel airports using Argentine airline carriers: Aerolinias Argentinas, Austral and LAPA.

Bariloche is one of Patagonia's main tourist centers and is serviced by an international airport. La Rinconada can also be reached from the town of Esquel (Province of Chubut). Esquel has an airport that is serviced directly from Buenos Aires/Bariloche and other southern Argentine cities.

What next?
If you are booking La Rinconada as a vacation rental, all ground transportation is your responsibility. We recommend renting a car in San Carlos de Bariloche. Hertz, Avis, Dollar and Budget have opened offices recently, and there are other local agencies in town. There are a myriad of bus services that operate in our region but do not often come directly through our valley. Because of the remote location of La Rinconada ranch we don't recommend using buses for extended stays.

To drive to La Rinconada Ranch from San Carlos de Bariloche, take paved Route 258 south from Bariloche following the signs for the town of El Bolson approximately 130 kilometers (km). Drive through El Bolson staying on Route 258. Keep an eye out for signs directing you to Esquel and Cholila. Route 258 leaves town on Avenida Belgrano, a diagonal off of the main North-South thoroughfare Avenida San Martin. Avoid roads directing you toward Lago Puelo.

In approximately 50 kilometers, you will reach an intersection. The pavement continues left on to Esquel on RN 40. You want to go straight, getting on to a gravel road marked occasionally as RP71 or 258. This is the road to Cholila, La Rinconada Ranch and Los Alerces National Park. In approximately 40 km there will be an intersection often referred to as "el cruce," the cross. There is an ACA gas station here. Turn right towards Los Lagos. La Rinconada Ranch resides 15 km south from the intersection on the left-hand side of the road. There is a "La Rinconada" sign above the red gate. You made it! Bienvenidos!

What is the weather like?
The temperatures are usually in the mid 80's in the daytime and in the 30's and 40's at night. It will be summer in a mountainous environment. Expect hot, sunny days with cool evenings. Rain is always a possibility.
